Change this only if your computer is directly connected to the internet and is NOT behind any kind of hardware firewall or router
Please note that due to the many ways Windows-Vista can be customized some of your views may look slightly different than the screenshots.
- Click on Start and go to the Control Panel OR Click on Start and go to Settings-->Control Panel
- Click on Network and Internet
- Click on View Network Status and Tasks
- On the left hand side of the screen, click on Manage Network Connections
- Right click on your Local Area Connection and Select Properties
- Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- Use the following IP Address should be selected, If "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected you probably have a router, and should not be following these directions. Please call if you are unsure.
Under: "Use the following DNS server address:" set the "Preferred DNS Server:" to 64.141.120.20, and set the "Alternate DNS server to: 208.70.56.55
That's it, you're done, hit OK, and Close on the previous screen
